Fix your eyes upon
Jesus, the author and perfector of our faith, who, for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame,
and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.
The joy.
This joy at Christmas is not just that of the mother in her
newborn.
This joy I barely understand, the joy of the Christ, coming
to save his people.
The exultation of knowing that his actions redeem us all.
That celebration of delight in defeating sin’s cruel grip on
us, his brothers and sisters.
Joy in family. Joy in community. Joy beyond measure.
Joy. Not just for Christmas, but for Always.
